Following an inter-force control service called “Action Day,” coordinated by the Police Headquarters of Caserta for the prevention and fight against waste fires and related illegal conduct, the military personnel of the Carabinieri Forestale Nucleus of Castel Volturno, together with the personnel of the Municipal Police of Villa Literno and the ASL Veterinary Service of Caserta, carried out an inspection at a buffalo farm located in Villa Literno, San Sossio, within the protected area called “Oasi Soglitelle.”
During the inspection, serious irregularities emerged in the management of livestock waste, disposed of illegally on the ground and in the perimeter canals, in addition to the uncontrolled storage of special hazardous and non-hazardous waste found abandoned within the company. The breeder was found to be lacking the mandatory documentation relating to the correct management of the waste and the disposal of the special waste produced.
The company area is subject to various restrictions, including the landscape-environmental restriction and the protected area restriction, being part of the “Oasi Soglitelle” nature reserve. Consequently, the military proceeded with the judicial seizure of the entire company complex, limiting its use exclusively to the management of animals. The owner of thebreeding he was reported at liberty for the crime of environmental pollution and for the illegal management of hazardous and non-hazardous special waste, as well as for other crimes related to the violation of environmental and landscape regulations.
