During an operation conducted by the Carabinieri of the Cultural Heritage Protection Unit of Naples, it was returned to the Archaeological Park of Pompei a collection of 125 archaeological finds of considerable value, including decorated pottery, clay statuettes, utensils and ornamental objects dating back to various eras.
The return followed a collaborative investigation involving several competent authorities.
The collection, considered to be of exceptional cultural interest, was assessed by the judicial authority as being state property, since the holder was unable to demonstrate legitimate possession prior to 1909. Furthermore, among the finds, 64 gold, silver and bronze coins were found, dating between the XNUMXrd century BC and the XNUMXth century AD.
The recovery of the finds was possible thanks to a complex inspection activity carried out by the TPC Nucleus of Naples, in collaboration with the territorial Arma of Torre Annunziata and the Archaeological Park of Pompeii – Protection Area, towards a private collector in the province of Salerno.
The archaeological finds were returned to the Archaeological Park of Pompeii to be adequately protected and enhanced within the Archaeological Museum of Stabia Libero D'orsi
