Francesco Acerbi, Inter defender, has categorically rejected the accusations of having uttered a racist phrase towards Juan Jesus of the Napoli during last night's game: "I didn't say anything racist, that's for sure. I didn't hear Juan Jesus, and I think he misunderstood."
"Why should I apologize?
I know I didn't say anything racist, I've been playing football for twenty years and I know what I'm saying."Acerbi said in response to journalists' questions at Milan Central Station. Acerbi then underlined the importance of the fight against racism.
"On the issue of racism, I hope that the fight continues in every part of the world.
A lot of things happen on the pitch, it's normal. You play football, you say certain things but when the whistle blows you shake hands and everything goes back to how it was before." On his departure from the national team retreat, Acerbi expressed regret: "Yes, but it's right that it went this way."
