The final day of the referee course held at the military prison of Santa Maria Capua Vetere ended with great success. The initiative, promoted by the Campania guarantor of prisoners, Samuele Ciambriello, and implemented by the Centro Sportivo Italiano, represented an important opportunity for training and inclusion for 10 prisoners and 5 military guards.
The closing ceremony saw the awarding of diplomas and referee uniforms to the participants, underlining the success of a project that actively involved the prison community. Important figures participated in the event, including the commander of the Military Penitentiary organization, Colonel Giancarlo Sciascia, the director Lieutenant Colonel Nicola Chirico, the regional president of Csi Campania Enrico Pellino and, of course, the guarantor Samuele Ciambriello.
Colonel Sciascia thanked the guarantor Ciambriello for having been the promoter of this initiative, defining it as a “activity born from an idea with high symbolic value”. He expressed the hope that the diplomas awarded could be an investment for the future of the participants. He also highlighted the change in the perception of the initiative over time, highlighting collaboration and sharing of values as a key element of success.
Enrico Pellino, regional president of Csi Campania, emphasized the effective internal organization of the prison, which contributed to the success of the project. He announced the intention to continue with similar initiatives, proposing the possibility of opening the prison structure to the territory to use the soccer fields for matches refereed by the course participants.
Guarantor Ciambriello emphasized the importance of these courses as true inclusion programs. He preferred to call them that rather than treatment programs, underlining the possibility that the certificates provide prisoners with a concrete job reintegration once they leave prison. He anticipated the promotion of future courses in collaboration with the Campania Region, further consolidating the commitment to inclusion and social recovery of prisoners.
