This morning, the Carabinieri of the Operational Section of the Torre del Greco Company executed a custodial order against a 30-year-old from Arzano, already detained at the Naples-Poggioreale “Giuseppe Salvia” prison for another crime.
The man is seriously suspected of the crime of extortion, committed inside the SNAI betting agency on Via Nazionale in Torre del Greco on 2 December 2023.
According to the investigators' reconstructions, the man allegedly entered the betting agency and asked the terminal operator to place two bets for a total amount of 1500 euros, without however paying the equivalent.
When the gaming clerk attempted to obtain payment, the extortionist allegedly walked away, threatening him with serious consequences if he persisted.
The investigations of the Carabinieri, coordinated by the Public Prosecutor's Office of Torre Annunziata, allowed them to acquire the footage from the agency's video surveillance cameras.
The videos clearly captured the individual phases of the criminal act, carried out with the extortionist's face uncovered, and allowed for his complete identification.
The arrested man will remain in the Naples-Poggioreale prison at the disposal of the Judicial Authority.
