Briatore opens Crazy Pizza in Naples and challenges Gino Sorbillo

Flavio Briatore announced on Instagram the opening of his restaurant Crazy Pizza in Napoli.

The entrepreneur explained the reasons that led him to bring his chain to the city considered the pizza capital. In doing so, he directly challenges Gino Sorbillo, the well-known Neapolitan pizza chef who criticized Briatore's Vesuvio pizza. "We'll open a restaurant at his house, in Naples, so we can compete on the same ground." Briatore said.

The reason for Sorbillo's criticism lies in the name Briatore chose for one of his pizzas, "Vesuvio." According to Sorbillo, calling it that name disrespects Campanian culture.

In response, Briatore said: "I saw that Maestro Sorbillo from Naples commented on the name of the pizza, which we called 'Vesuvio' in honor of the Neapolitans and Campania. We called it that because the ingredients are: buffalo mozzarella from Paestum, smoked provola from the Lattari mountains, provolone del Monaco, and 'pinnòlo' cherry tomatoes. These are all ingredients from Campania."

Not only that, Briatore also negatively commented on the pineapple pizza offered by Sorbillo in some of his restaurants. "I wonder: but when he makes pizza with bananas, oh no, they were pineapples. In Naples I've never noticed the presence of pineapple plants." he has declared.

Finally, he enthusiastically announced the upcoming opening of his restaurant: "We're happy that Sorbillo is watching and commenting on us. The great news is that we'll be opening 'Crazy Pizza' at his place, so we'll be competing on equal terms. We always have to compete with the best. Sorbillo is strong in Naples, and we'll become very strong in Naples. See you at 'Crazy Pizza Napoli'."
