Last Friday, a man originally from Caserta had his car stolen in Rome.
During the night between Friday and Saturday, he was contacted by an unknown individual who informed him that his car was located in Napoli and that to get it back he would have to pay a sum of money. The man then went to Naples and reported the incident to the Naples Central Railway Police offices.
The officers immediately contacted the Flying Squad, which began an investigation to identify those responsible. On Saturday, the police went to Capodichino, the pre-arranged meeting place, where they identified the alleged perpetrators while they were trying to obtain the agreed upon money for the return of the car.
The suspects, seeing themselves discovered, tried to flee but were caught and stopped by the officers. Two Neapolitans aged 17 and 20, the latter with a police record, were arrested for personal injury, violence, resisting a public official and extortion. The scooter used was seized because it did not have insurance coverage.
The father of one of the two thieves was also arrested at the police station
Subsequently, at the police station in Via Medina, the father of the arrested minor showed up in a clearly agitated state, threatening the officers present in an attempt to reach his son.
After engaging in a fight with officers, he was stopped and arrested for personal injury, violence, threats, contempt and resisting a Public Official. The search for the stolen vehicle is still ongoing.
