Accident on board the ferry “Benito Buono” of the Medmar company during the entry maneuver into the port of Casamicciola.
During the departure this afternoon at 15 pm from Pozzuoli, two trucks overturned, damaging some cars parked in the garage, including a carabinieri car.
There were no injuries among the passengers on board, despite the difficult weather and sea conditions with waves up to two meters high which caused the cancellation of several hydrofoil trips between the mainland and the islands in the Gulf of Naples.
Despite the incident, the ferry managed to dock safely. The sixty-nine passengers were allowed to disembark without any problems, reporting that they had heard a loud bang during the incident.
The men of the Circomare Ischia intervened at the scene of the accident, under the leadership of Lieutenant Antonio Magi, together with personnel from the Carabinieri and the police.
It is expected that checks will be carried out on the condition of the ferry and there may be disruption to subsequent departures.
