The clan ruled by the boss Salvatore D'Amico the pirate which controls the illicit business in the eastern part of the Villa district in San Giovanni a Teduccio had decided to punish Francesco Pio Valda and his most faithful Emmanuel Aprea, scion of the well-known Barra Camorra family.
Both had not only “crossed the border” but had even attempted to kill one of their affiliates: Ciro Marigliano.
This is what emerges from the wiretaps in the house of Valda's grandmother, Giuseppina Niglio, contained in the 300 pages of the precautionary order signed by the investigating judge Federica Colucci who yesterday led to the imprisonment of 11 people, including family members and members of the clan of Barra.
In particular, on February 16, 2023, so one month before Francesco Pio Valda killed the innocent man Francesco Pio Maimone at the chalets of Mergellina, a dialogue was recorded during which the young murderer speaks with an unidentified man about an altercation with Ciro Marigliano, brother of Stani (identified in Stanislaus Marigliano) which occurred the day before behind the Villa District nthe San Giovanni neighborhood.
Valda reports having fired five or six shots into Marigliano's car. Later in the story, he says he was contacted "by those back there" and, specifically, by Antonio thirty-eight (Antonio Cozzolino, affiliated with the D'Amico clan, brother-in-law of the boss Gesualdo Sartori, who was detained at the time), who was irritated by the action carried out by Valda in "his" home, that is, in the territory of San Giovanni a Teduccio.
Gesualdo Sartori is indicated by the investigators as the regent of the D'Amico clan and contact of the Mazzarella clan in the area of San Giovanni a Teduccio.
But Francesco Pio Valda, ignoring the words of Antonio Trentotto, had replied that Ciro Marigliano,”holds the problem”, stressing that wherever he met him, he would “launched his attack”.
Also significant is a passage by Valda, who, regarding Antonio Trentotto, reiterated “we are here”, thus highlighting their command position and excluding having to show up at Antonio Cozzolino's house who “if he wants to say something, he comes here.”
On February 18, a further conversation emerged between Francesco Pio Valda and Pasquale Ventimiglia, known as Lino Lino, during which Francesco Pio reported that those from San Giovanni (referring to the members of the D'Amico clan) had shown their resentment because of a fight "with the idiot Gerozzo the little one", that is Cyrus Marigliano.
Francesco Pio recounts that thirty-eight, the nickname by which Antonio Cozzolino is known, had turned to “one of our cousins” (later identified as Francesco Relli, a member of the Aprea clan and at the time under house arrest) saying that he “wanted satisfaction”, or rather that he wanted to get his revenge on Francesco Pio Valda and Emmanuel Aprea.
But the cousin had decided not to accept the request, explaining: “it’s better that we stay arguing with these guys… instead of humiliating you.”
The news had of course also reached his brother Luigi Valda in prison who, during one of the many telephone conversations he had illegally with his family, reassured him. “As soon as I’m released, I’ll show you what happens in San Giovanni.”
Brother from prison: “As soon as I get out I’ll show you what’s happening in San Giovanni”
But Francesco Pio had no intention of waiting any longer. “Only two more,
three days" to understand how they would "move" and what they intended to do and would have “threw two things”, not better understood. Probably the same explosive devices used for extortion purposes in the previous months in the area.
Francesco Pio explained to his brother that others had also “disrespected outside of them”. And for this he says: “Tonino or Trentot, he should never have made a scene up here, because it is a red zone”.
Before ending the call he assured and reiterated to his brother that no one would get out of it. “healthy from this thing.”
