Nicola Schiavone, known as “o russ”, was sentenced to six years in prison for mafia association by the preliminary investigations judge of Naples, Giovanni Vinciguerra.
Schiavone is the nephew of Francesco Schiavone, also known as “Sandokan”, clan leader of the Casale. Schiavone was described as an entrepreneur who operated for the benefit of the gang, obtaining numerous public contracts.
Schiavone's conviction follows a previous ruling in the "Normandia 2" trial. During the abbreviated trial, the preliminary hearing judge acquitted Schiavone of the charge of fictitious ownership, as well as Isodoro and Luigi Schiavone, Nicola's father and brother, accused of money laundering with mafia aggravation.
Vincenzo Mosca was sentenced to three years, while Nicola Ucciero was sentenced to four. The request of the prosecutor Graziella Arlomede was eight years for Nicola Schiavone and six years for his family.
Nicola Schiavone 'o russo was in charge of public procurement
Schiavone had previously been sentenced to ten years in the “Normandia 2” trial, but was released in 2019. However, in 2022, he was arrested again for his alleged association with the Casalesi clan.
According to what emerged during the trial, Schiavone allegedly managed a company that dealt with public procurement in an illicit manner, without the necessary certifications, through front men.
