The Financiers of the Capodichino Company and the officials of the Customs and Monopolies Agency of Naples Capodichino seized 40 specimens of protected coral illegally imported from abroad.

The military and officials, during routine checks on passengers arriving from Cuba, they stopped an Italian citizen who was carrying corals in her luggage, without any authorization or CITES documentation (Washington Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora).

From the experts' analysis, the corals have been identified as belonging to the order "Scleractinia Bourne", included in Appendix II of the CITES Convention, which regulates their international trade to protect their survival.

The corals were seized and the passenger was fined between 3 and 15 euros, as required by current legislation.
