The Rome Public Prosecutor's Office has opened a file on the accusations of "alleged illicit activities" against the president of the Football Federation, Gabriele Gravina.
The investigation, currently without suspects or formal hypotheses of crime, started from a report from the DNA (National Anti-Mafia Directorate) dating back to months ago.
The Roman investigation is linked to the ongoing investigation in Perugia which involves, among others, the financier Pasquale Striano.
According to the Umbrian prosecutors, Striano and the lieutenant of the Guardia di Finanza Gianluca Laudati falsely attested that the information on Gravina came from the Salerno Prosecutor's Office, when in reality it had been obtained from another person "through meetings promoted by Laudati and agreed upon by Striano".
The prosecutors of Perugia hypothesize that this conduct “intentionally favored harm to Gabriele Gravina”. The Rome Prosecutor’s Office is now verifying the validity of this hypothesis.
