The other day, at the Operations Center of Ischia There have been several reports of requests for help from seniors who found themselves victims of scams. Among the reports, a particularly original scam involving an awareness campaign against the crimes of fraud itself.
The scam consisted of warnings of alleged criminals who were trying to trick victims into stealing their money and jewelry, using the pretext of a fake accident, a fake marshal, and a relative to be "freed" with money.
However, the unusual aspect of this scam was that the scammer pretended to be a Carabinieri officer, providing misleading information to the victims. Fortunately, thanks to the Carabinieri's genuine anti-scam awareness campaign, the citizens of Ischia were able to recognize the scam attempt and promptly contacted 112.
