Trapper Jordan Jeffrey Baby, aka Jordan Tinti, was found dead in his cell in Torre del Gallo prison in Pavia. The 27-year-old committed suicide by hanging himself with a rope.
Tinti had been sentenced to 4 years and 4 months for robbery aggravated by racial hatred. In April 2023, together with the Roman trapper Traffik, he attacked a 42-year-old Nigerian worker in an underpass at the Carnate station (Monza and Brianza), threatening him with racist remarks and filming the incident on video.
Three months ago, Tinti had been admitted to a therapeutic placement in a community in Pavia, but the Surveillance Court subsequently ordered his return to prison. The young man had previously attempted suicide and had reported suffering mistreatment and abuse while in prison.
The news of his death has caused great emotion in the music world and on social media. Many have expressed condolences and closeness to the family and friends of the young artist.
Shadows on his past
Jordan Jeffrey Baby's life had been marked by tumultuous events. In addition to the robbery conviction, the trapper had had problems with the law in the past and had already attempted to take his own life.
The circumstances of his death in prison are still being examined by investigators, but his tragic end has shed light on the living conditions in Italian prisons and the need for greater psychological support for inmates.
A controversial legacy
Jordan Jeffrey Baby's music was often raw and controversial, with lyrics that addressed issues such as violence, drugs and crime. However, the trapper also had a poetic and introspective streak, which emerged in some of his more intimate and personal songs.
His musical legacy remains controversial, but his tragic end is a warning not to underestimate the fragility and suffering that can afflict even the most controversial figures.
