In line with recent declarations by Aurelio De Laurentiis on the new stadium of Napoli in the area of Bagnoli, Mayor Gaetano Manfredi Today, he cast doubt on the feasibility of the ambitious project. Responding to the Napoli president's statements, the mayor emphasized that the cleanup will take longer than previously announced.
He specified that, just the previous day, a detailed timeline had been finalized with the Ministry and Invitalia, considering the Bagnoli site an area of national interest. Manfredi highlighted the complexities of the operation, emphasizing that the area already has a development plan with predefined intended uses.
The mayor also revealed that he has not yet spoken directly with De Laurentiis and reiterated that the land is not owned by the Municipality, but by Invitalia. He estimated a completion time of 3-5 years, noting that the Ministry of the Environment has communicated the rescheduling of funds and that remediation of the land and urban park is expected to begin between April and May.

Manfredi drew attention to the stadium law, providing a procedural path already established for agreements between municipalities and sports clubs regarding the renovation of facilities. He expressed the Municipality and the Government's full support for the restyling of the "Maradona" stadium.
The mayor stressed that, despite the technical issues on the coexistence between works and use of the stadium, the technicians will discuss it. The mayor concluded by reaffirming that the priority remains the Maradona, underlining the total availability of the Municipality but underlining that the priority choices concern the famous city facility.
