Nando Martellini e Nicholas Carosio, two giants of the world of sports radio commentators for Giornale Radio, will be the protagonists of "One Hundred, a Century of Radio," hosted by Umberto Broccoli. The program is scheduled for Friday, March 15th at 17.05:1 PM on Rai Radio XNUMX. Nando Martellini was a pioneer in the field of sports radio journalism.
Having joined Rai as an announcer in 1944, he made his debut as a football commentator in 1946, thanks to the encouragement of Vittorio Veltroni, during the Bari-Napoli 2-2 match. From then on, his career was studded with major events: from the 1948 Giro d'Italia to the 1956 Melbourne Olympics, where he was a special correspondent for the Giornale Radio.
Nicolò Carosio, on the other hand, was the historic voice of football, first on radio and then on television. He was the first to appear on the pitch during the Milan-Juventus match on "Tutto il calcio minuto per minuto," the first episode of the program. The program features an exchange between the two commentators and Paolo Villaggio, involving them in a "Rischiatutto sportivo" (sports challenge) during "Formula Uno," Second Program, on November 3, 1970.
The documentary "Tifosi, patiti e fans," made by Sergio Zavoli in 1959 for the Secondo Programma, will be another focal point of the program. Zavoli explores the phenomenon of popular mythomania, analyzing the fanatical enthusiasm of fans and supporters toward artists, athletes, and famous people. Several voices will be selected, including that of actor Maurizio Arena, who recalls an episode that occurred in Rome's Quadraro neighborhood.
