A 27-year-old man was arrested by the Carabinieri in Montella, in the province of Avellino, for having threatened a barmaid with a gun in order to avoid paying for a beer.
The whole thing was captured by the premises' video surveillance systems, clearly showing what happened. After the criminal act, the young man was stopped a few hundred metres from the bar thanks to the swift intervention of the local Carabinieri and other nearby stations.
During the search, ammunition and a multipurpose knife were found in the possession of the arrested man. In addition, the weapon used in the crime was found in a nearby garden, a blank-firing pistol modified to fire live ammunition.
The man, opposed to his arrest, reacted violently towards the soldiers, causing injuries to one of them.
He was subsequently found responsible for various crimes and transferred to Bellizzi prison pending further measures by the Avellino Prosecutor's Office.
