The 57-year-old man arrested by the Carabinieri of the Company was framed thanks to the identikit provided by the victim and his friends Vomero on charges of attempted murder.
The man allegedly attempted to kill a 21-year-old by stabbing him in the throat with a large serrated kitchen knife.
“It was an old man with a goatee,” the victim told the police. The incident occurred on February 29, near the “Montedonzelli” station on line 1 of the Naples subway.
According to the investigation, the man acted to avenge his nephew, who had been involved in a fight with other boys shortly before. The 21-year-old was taken to the hospital in serious condition but survived.
The Carabinieri were able to identify the attacker thanks to the testimonies of the victim and a friend who was present at the time of the attack.
The man was arrested and taken to prison. The GIP of Naples validated the arrest and ordered the precautionary measure of prison, considering that there was a risk of escape.
The man had disappeared after the attack, but later presented himself to the police to provide a version of the facts different from the one confirmed by the Carabinieri.
The motive for the attempted murder is still unclear, but investigators hypothesize that the man acted out of revenge.
