The number of people registered in the register of suspects for the death of Giuseppe Borrelli, the 26 year old worker from Volla who died on Tuesday evening in a tragic accident at work in the "Laminazione Sottile" plant in San Marco Evangelista, in the province of Caserta.
Public prosecutors Paola Forno and Luisa Turco of the Santa Maria Capua Vetere Public Prosecutor's Office have placed the seven people under investigation so they can appoint their own medical and legal experts for the autopsy.
They are Paolo Ruffato, 52, from Milan; Massimo Moschini, 70, from Naples; Luca Moschini, 64, from Naples; Pietro Moschini, 58, from Naples (the company's top executives); Giuseppe De Simone, 50, from Castellammare di Stabia; Oreste Martellossi, 52, from Palmanova; and Emilio Menicucci, 61, from Turin.
The machine in which Giuseppe lost his life was apparently not safety-compliant: investigating judge Maria Pasqualina Gaudiano validated the emergency seizure ordered by the Prosecutor's Office.
The equipment is located in the finishing department and, according to initial findings, it would be "lacking safety systems to prevent contact with moving parts"According to the Prosecutor's Office, the car in which Giuseppe died did not "comply with the necessary safety requirements" required by law.
Today, March 15, the autopsy is scheduled to be performed by coroner Edoardo Mazzini, who inspected the factory area where the young worker died on the evening of the tragedy.
The death of Giuseppe Borrelli has put the spotlight on workplace safety in Italy. Once again, a young worker has lost his life in an accident that could have been avoided. The judiciary is investigating to ascertain any responsibilities and to shed light on this tragedy.
