Mourning in the entertainment world: the Neapolitan actor has died. Gigio Morra. He was 78 years old. His wife gave the news Lucia Mandarini on Facebook: “My love has left me. He was a sweet and kind man, a great actor. He left me in the greatest despair. I will love you forever.”
A versatile and multifaceted actor, Morra has graced the most prestigious stages and acted for some of the greatest Italian directors, from Eduardo De Filippo to Mario Martone, from Marco Bellocchio to Nanni Moretti, from Matteo Garrone to Marco D'Amore and Lina Wertmüller.
In the cinema, he played memorable roles in films such as “Io speranza che me la cavo”, “Gomorra”, “Fortapàsc”, “Pericle il Nero”, “Il Sol dell'Avvenire” and “Pinocchio”.
In the theatre, he has collaborated with giants such as Maurizio Scaparro, Giuseppe Patroni Griffi, Luca De Filippo and Toni Servillo.
But Morra was also a well-known face to the general public, thanks to his participation in successful TV series such as “Un posto al sole”, “Il commissario Montalbano”, “Imma Tataranni”, “Doc – Nelle tue mani”, “Tutti pazzi per amore” and “I bastardi di Pizzofalcone”.
