In the heart of Mugnano of Naples, the phenomenon of drug “delivery” is spreading in a disturbing way, allowing pushers to operate with relative impunity, carrying only small quantities with them and confident in the fact that, in the event of checks by the police, they will only respond to an administrative report as consumers.
However, the Carabinieri are well aware of this tactic and, with targeted operations, remain on the lookout, patiently waiting for the crucial moment in which the exchange that sanctions the drug dealing takes place.
Last night in via Fleming, the local carabinieri concentrated their attention, knowing that drug dealing activity takes place there. Shortly before midnight, while they were stationed in various positions along the road, they noticed a young man on a scooter speeding in the wrong direction, away from an individual sitting on a low wall.
This aroused the suspicion of the military, who promptly intervened. The young man sitting on the wall, seeing the carabinieri, threw a package he was keeping in his pocket under a car.
However, the pusher did not realize that, on the other side of the street, there were two other plainclothes carabinieri who had witnessed the scene. The young man, a 19-year-old with no criminal record in the area, was stopped and the package was recovered. Inside, there were several doses of hashish ready for sale.
The Carabinieri then decided to search the young man's home, where they made further discoveries. In his bedroom, hidden among his clothes, an iron box containing a 51-gram block of hashish was found.
Furthermore, in the drawer of the same wardrobe, 15 more doses of the same substance were found, for a total weight of 16 grams, together with 37 transparent plastic bags presumably used to package the drug.
Furthermore, a precision scale and a briefcase were found. Inside the latter, a prop pistol without the red cap, caliber 9, and a blank bullet in the barrel.
The search continued, revealing additional drugs in the closet: 92 grams of marijuana contained in a bag.
The 19-year-old was arrested and the gun, along with 160 grams of drugs, was seized.
