The Attorney of Naples, Nicola Gratteri, announced a strong commitment in the fight against illegal building and pollution in the city.
“I have arranged a specific distribution of delegations and sensitized the sections on these priority issues, hoping for an acceleration in investigative and repressive activities,” Gratteri declared during a training lesson for journalists organized by the Sugc union.
The Prosecutor underlined the seriousness of the problem of illegal building, highlighting the tragic example of Ischia and the need to intervene firmly: “The mayors complain about the lack of funds to demolish illegal buildings, but I am committed to carrying on this battle.
In Calabria I found alternative solutions, such as collaborating with the environmental councilor to obtain the demolition of 250 illegal apartments in Catanzaro. I intend to replicate this model in Naples”.
Gratteri also described the Neapolitan Camorra as a “very advanced organization, with various ramifications. There is the Camorra that carries out acts of violence and intimidation, a phenomenon that is almost non-existent in Calabria where the 'ndrangheta exercises iron territorial control.
In Naples, on the other hand, young criminals try to assert themselves through the 'stese'. But the Camorra is mainly present in the business world, in the tertiary sector, in distribution and, in an increasingly pervasive manner, in the dark web. We are carefully monitoring these new frontiers of organized crime to effectively counter its evolution”.
