Gaetano Manfredi, mayor of Naples, has declared that at the moment it does not seem necessary to increase licenses, despite the reports of the Antitrust regarding the critical issues in taxi services in large cities.
During the inauguration of Pistoletto's new installation of Venus of the Rags, Manfredi responded to the criticism of the vice president of the Regional Council, Fulvio Bonavitacola, inviting him to focus on the importance of acting for the good of citizens rather than on political issues.
The mayor stressed the importance of dialogue between institutions, regardless of political affiliation, referring to the collaboration between governments of different colors during Bassolino's administration.
The experiment implemented to optimize taxi services in Naples involved changes in shifts and in the organization of the presence of taxis in the city.
Manfredi reiterated that, although the current number of taxis can meet demand, the possibility of increasing licenses will be evaluated if problems still arise after the completion of this work.
