A nightmare that repeats itself. A new river of mud has flooded via Solimena in Napoli due to the rains this morning, flooding basements, commercial premises and apartments at street level. With no way out: the residents, exasperated by the situation, have attempted to empty the premises without success.
The Fire Brigade intervened with two autoclaves and water pumps, while the Abc staff is working in the two construction sites opened after the previous sinkholes.
Tensions have erupted between residents and ABC staff, with residents complaining about the lack of maintenance and repairs to the sewer systems.
The deputy Francesco Emilio Borrelli and Nelide Milano of Europa Verde arrived on site to follow the developments of the situation.
“Another section of the sewer system has collapsed,” some citizens reported. “The sewers have never been repaired and interventions have always been made with patches that have caused this disaster.”
"Unfortunately, we are witnessing a disaster waiting to happen. We need to proceed as soon as possible with a detailed check of the entire hill subsoil and the water network to get to the causes of the continuous flooding."
“Maximum assistance must be guaranteed to citizens who cannot be abandoned to their own devices,” explained MP Francesco Emilio Borrelli with Nelide Milano who arrived on site to follow the developments of the difficult situation.
The residents of number 113, who were evacuated following the sinkhole, yesterday received a note from the Municipality informing them that the danger had passed and that the building was now usable, just a few hours after the new disaster.
The latest flooding of Via Solimena highlights the need for urgent interventions and a thorough check of the subsoil to avoid further disasters and protect the safety of citizens.
