Tie-break is a show about the end. Of a tennis match, a marriage, a friendship, and a life. The unfolding events are interpreted from the different perspectives of the three protagonists, intersecting in a musical counterpoint, revealing, even with sudden comical flashes, their long-buried desires. The interweaving of the characters' thoughts is inspired by W. Timothy Gallwey's essay "The Inner Game of Tennis," in which two opposing factions, body and mind, vie for control of each match. If, as Agassi says in his book Open, every match is like a life, the life described here is precisely like a match.
