New appointment of the Nest theatre season with Oblio by Cristel Checca, on stage Saturday 9 March (21 pm) and Sunday 10 March (18 pm).
On stage Anna Carla Broegg, Cristel Checca and Francesco Figliomeni.
OBLIO was born from the need to discuss and bring to light the phenomenon of slut-shaming, literally the shame of the slut, which since the advent of the internet age is reaping more and more victims. Slut-shaming refers to the media pillory reserved for women judged "guilty" of transgressing the codes of sexual conduct that society has established for them. From revenge porn, to the thousand facets that this phenomenon takes on and which often leads, as the all too many news stories show, to tragic outcomes. We are talking about victims of a monster made of clicks that devours the soul, of people who no longer have power over their image and consequently over their life. Replaced by a virtual personality imposed by the network, more real than reality itself, killed through likes, views, comments, memes.
This is the starting context, not a dystopian future but a scenario, alas, all too current. A society in which, quoting Zygmunt Baumann, "the public is colonized by the private, public interest is reduced to curiosity about the private lives of public figures and the art of public life consists solely in the exposure of private affairs and public confessions of private feelings (the more intimate the better)". A modernity in which individualization consists in the transformation of human identity from something given to a task to be achieved. An impossible goal for a woman who no longer has power over her own image, who lives her own life and mixes with the now deformed waste that gave rise to the virtual world. A world in which the right to be forgotten is a privilege and the laws that regulate the internet are a labyrinth with no way out.
