The mayors of Sorrento, Piano di Sorrento and Massa Lubrense, together with representatives of Comieco and Penisolaverde, have signed the agreement to promote the separate collection of paper and cardboard through the use of paper bags instead of plastic.
This initiative is aimed at families in the three coastal municipalities and aims to increase the percentage of separate waste collection, while reducing the presence of foreign fractions.
Thanks to information campaigns and specific controls, a 20% increase in collection is expected in Sorrento and 15% in Piano di Sorrento, with a lower level of contamination in all three municipalities involved.
These results will also lead to an increase in the financial compensation recognized by Comieco for paper and cardboard recycling, which in 2023 exceeded 260 thousand euros overall.
