The Court of Appeal of Naples has reformulated the sentences for the nine defendants involved in the trial on the new Camorra bosses and affiliates of Pianura.
The trial is part of a broader investigation that led to the arrest of over 50 people in July 2022. The investigations, conducted by the Flying Squad and coordinated by the DDA, shed light on the activities of the Carillo and Calone clans.
Telephone and environmental interceptions have allowed us to reconstruct the tension between the two groups, which resulted in gunfights and acts of intimidation. The main scene of the feud was via Evangelista Torricelli.
The investigations also documented drug trafficking, extortion at drug dealing locations, extortion attempts against businesses and the possession of firearms.
The appeal ruling – as Il Roma anticipated – while confirming the defendants' responsibility, recognized mitigating circumstances and reduced the sentences.
The sentences were reduced compared to the first degree of judgment:
Antonio Carillo: from 18 to 14 years of imprisonment
Pasquale Carillo: 9 years and 8 months (continued with another sentence)
Francesco Capuozzo: 9 years and 4 months (excluding the role of head)
Elizabeth Carillo: 6 years old
Luigi Di Lorenzo: 9 years and 4 months
Giovanna Improta: 6 years and 1 month
Ciro Pagano: 6 years and 2 months
Rosaria Brandi: 6 years old
Antonio Luongo: 2 years and 8 months
