A 36-year-old man, with a criminal record for drugs and robbery, illegally occupied a public housing unit in Pozzuoli.
The man was in the company of an elderly woman and they were identified by the Carabinieri who started the eviction process.
The house – as anticipated by Cronaca Felegrea – was owned by ACER and had been assigned to the deceased woman's nephew, who had started some renovation work.
The 36-year-old took advantage of the absence of workers and people in the house to break down the front door and occupy the property.
A similar case occurred at the beginning of the year in Via Napoli, where a council house had been illegally occupied by a family. In both cases, the eviction order was notified to the illegal occupants.
“We intervene daily against house thieves – explains the deputy Francesco Emilio Borrelli – who take over apartments that belong to those who really need and have the right to them.
However, the intervention times are still too long and this allows too many criminals to live off society. We expect the immediate eviction of the repeat offender who occupies the house in Rione Toiano”.
