The hall of the Castello dei Conti di Acerra will host the closing ceremony of the celebrations for the 150th anniversary of Enrico Caruso 's birth on Thursday, March 14, at 6:00 p.m. Following the conference "Caruso, Spaghetti, and Pulcinella," the new hall of the Pulcinella Museum will be inaugurated, dedicated to Pulcinella's presence in music. This initiative is inspired by the fact that Arturo Buzzi Peccia's song "Povero Pulcinella" became a signature tune for the famous tenor during his rise to fame in the United States.
Although there are no traces of Caruso's interpretation, three versions were recorded on January 6, 1919 for Victor in the Camden studios in New Jersey. Thanks to the support of artificial intelligence, the Pulcinella Museum has been able to revive the voice of Enrico Caruso. The room presents the song's score, some original records and other documents, enriching the exhibits together with the bust of Enrico Caruso, made by Michele De Chiara, depicted with the smock and the Pulcinella mask raised on his head, as in the portrait of Vincenzo Cammarano known as "Giancola".
The hall's itinerary is integrated with the collection of rare texts, scores and portraits relating to musicians who have composed works inspired by Pulcinella, not only in music but also in gastronomy. During the conference, which enjoys the patronage of the Metropolitan City of Naples and the Municipality of Acerra, the true recipe of Spaghetti alla Caruso will be revealed, a dish that the great Neapolitan tenor helped spread in the United States.
Participants at the conference will include Giusy Fatigati, president of Acerra Nostra; Tommaso Esposito, director of the Pulcinella Museum; Davide W. Auricchio, musician; Paolo Rea Scabec Campania; Francesca La Montagna, councilor for Museums; Milena Petrella, councilor for school policies; Tito D'Errico, Mayor of Acerra and Vittoria Lettieri, Regional Councilor, with the extraordinary participation of the actor Carmine Coppola, in the role of Pulcinella.
