After the victories of Roma, Milan and Fiorentina on Thursday in the Europa League and Conference League, Italy consolidates its status as the leader in the UEFA Ranking. With six teams still in the running out of seven (with the sole exclusion of Lazio from the Champions League), the Italian nation is positioned at the top of this special ranking with a score of 16.571.
Following Italy, we find Germany in second place with 15.500 and England in third with 14.625. France occupies the fourth position with 14.416, followed by Spain (13.437), Czech Republic (13.000), Belgium (12.400), Turkey (11.500), Portugal (10.166) and Holland (10.000).
The significant performance of the Italian teams not only consolidates the top position in the ranking, but also opens up prospects for the future of European competitions. The first two federations in the ranking will have the opportunity to field a fifth team in the next edition of the Champions League. Starting in 2024, in fact, an expansion from 32 to 36 teams is planned, which will compete in a unique large group format, allowing each club to play at least eight matches against different opponents each time.
