A Salerno The trial of the pay-as-you-throw (TARIP) system has begun, which requires payment of a waste tax based on the amount of waste disposed of. The city has been divided into six macro-zones, and in five of them, residents who have joined the project displayed their red glass bins and green bags for organic waste last night.
The facilitators, equipped with badges, orange vests, scales, and tablets, weighed the glass and organic waste, assigning the respective quantities to each user using the unique code on each bin. The operations continued until late at night.
At four o'clock this morning, Salerno Pulita workers emptied both the red bins of the trial participants and the shared glass and organic waste bins. After emptying them, users were able to collect their bins that morning.
Weighing operations also took place this morning in the hilly neighborhoods, from Matierno to Sordina. Salerno Pulita reminds that it is still possible to register for the trial at the Fratte and Arechi municipal collection centers, or at the mobile collection center located in the Italia neighborhood on Saturday, March 23. Registration is also available online on the Salerno Pulita website.
Users who live in the streets of the nightlife area are excluded from the experiment, a list of which can be consulted on the Salerno Pulita website.
The transition from Tari to Tarip is provided for by a national law of 2013. Salerno Pulita and the Municipality of Salerno in this project are supported by Conai (National Packaging Consortium), which avails itself of the technical collaboration of Officine Sostenibili, and by Legambiente.
