The investigation, coordinated by the Naples District Anti-Mafia Directorate, documented the criminal gang's activities through cameras, drones, surveillance, and checks. The criminal group consisted of Roma people living in a local Roma camp.
This group had profited from illegal activities related to waste management. Inspections revealed that an illegal waste dump had been set up inside the nomad camp, including special waste such as used tires, large appliances, and plastic materials.
This waste came from both private individuals and nearby companies, who illegally disposed of it to reduce costs. Once transported into the camp by special trucks, the waste was dumped haphazardly in designated storage areas.
