Francesco Totti, eternal icon of the Rome, sparked a hornet's nest of discussions during an Instagram live with Sport Mediaset. The former Giallorossi captain revealed that his return to Roma could be hindered by the current management, but he did not categorically rule out this possibility.
“If I return to Rome? Not with this management, if they wanted me they knew where to find me”, said Totti, underlining an alleged lack of interest from the club's top brass towards him. However, he added: “I never say no to Roma, but it doesn’t depend on me.”
The discussion then moved on to the topic of the renewal of the contract of Paulo Dybala, who had sparked controversy after a recent statement. Totti had in fact stated: “As a manager I would think about renewing Paulo's contract because he plays 50% of the matches.”
Today he wanted to clarify his point of view: “As a manager I would think about it, but I am the first to have wanted him at Roma. I have nothing against him. I have always defended him and he is the best player at Roma. I was asked if as a manager I would have renewed his contract, but I am not a manager. I reflected as a fan, so like all fans I can say what I want”.
