On the morning of Sunday, March 3, the II Trofeo di Salvamento Città di Pozzuoli took place with great success, an event organized by the sports club Play Off di Lucrino that served as the backdrop to a day full of competitions and extraordinary results. The event saw the participation of athletes of various age groups, from 11 to 70 years old, engaged in individual and relay events that ranged from swimming with obstacles to carrying mannequins, from the mixed course to the race with fins.
The organizational machine, complex and perfectly orchestrated, was masterfully coordinated by Dario Furno, head coach of the Play Off. Furno's team won the Trophy, demonstrating excellent preparation and dedication. Second place went to the Roman team Romaster-Appio 2009, led by Andrea Longobardo, who also obtained the primacy in the master circuit.
The event saw the setting of 23 new national records, of which 15 were conquered by Mario Cutolo's Pozzuoli team and 8 by the team from the capital. Alessandro Volpe, coach of the Play Off master group, expressed his satisfaction for the success of the event: "I am very happy that the master Lifesaving competitions are resuming, after the long stop imposed by the pandemic. I thank my students and all the athletes who took part in this event, hoping that this can be the beginning of a new path capable of giving impetus to the master lifesaving movement in Italy".
Andrea Longobardo, CSAIn representative, also highlighted the importance of the event and its contribution to the restoration of in-person competitions: «We resumed the in-person competitions last year right in Pozzuoli and we are here again, with an event enhanced by the presence of athletes of high competitive profile, such as Alessandro Volpe». The day proved to be not only an opportunity for competition but also for rebirth and relaunch for master lifesaving in Italy.
