A 21 year old young man, coming from Napoli, was arrested in Pistoia by the Flying Squad and the railway police for the alleged crime of fraud against elderly people.
The victim, an 83-year-old woman, was contacted by telephone by an individual who pretended to be a Carabinieri marshal, stating that her daughter had been involved in a serious accident and that she had to pay a sum of money to avoid her arrest.
The woman handed over approximately 1.000 euros in cash and gold jewelry to a young man who showed up at her door, believing it was a scam.
The 21-year-old was stopped by the Polfer before he could escape by train to Naples, found with the stolen money and jewelry hidden in his coat. He is currently in prison awaiting the validation hearing.
