Last night there was a high tension situation at the service area of Theano, in the Caserta section of the A1, due to the actions of around a hundred fans of the Lecce. Armed with sticks, they caused disturbances by throwing smoke bombs and firecrackers while waiting for the arrival of the Nocerina supporters, with whom problems had already occurred during the morning.
According to the reconstruction by the State Police of the Caserta Police Headquarters, it seems that the Salerno supporters, following the team that was supposed to play its Serie D match against a team from the capital, had attacked yesterday morning in Ceprano, in a motorway service station, the Salento fans who were going to Frosinone for the Serie A match.
As a result, the Lecce supporters, eager to take revenge, waited at the Teano service area, in the direction of Naples, for the arrival of the Nocerina supporters. However, the police were already on site - the Mobile Unit was not present - and closed access to the service station, slowing down and then temporarily blocking the flow of vehicles thanks to the intervention of the Highway Police.
Realizing that they would have no contact with the Nocerina fans, the Lecce supporters began throwing smoke bombs and paper bombs in the area of the service station and also on the nearby highway, even though traffic was stopped at the time. This tense episode lasted a few minutes, after which the fans returned to their cars and the situation returned to normal, with the regular resumption of traffic flow. The Caserta Police Headquarters is currently conducting investigations to identify the Lecce fans involved in the incident, who will be subject to charges and Daspo.
