The Caserta employees of the company Softlab they started a sit-in in front of the Prefecture of Caserta together with the representatives of the metalworkers' unions Fiom-Cgil, Fim-Cisl, Uilm and Failms.
This initiative follows the demonstration held last week in Naples in front of the Campania Region. The workers, former employees of the American multinational Jabil now employed in Softlab, are asking for clarity on their future work and the payment of arrears such as salaries and redundancy contributions.
The situation has been going on for years and the pressure on the institutional leaders is ever higher. A demonstration is planned in Caserta on March 15 to raise public awareness, involving citizens, political forces and parliamentarians of the territory.
The unions denounce the lack of concreteness in the promises of reindustrialization made in the past, defining the current situation as a “phantom reindustrialization”. The Softlab company, despite having hired former Jabil employees with substantial incentives, has not started significant production in the Caserta area as originally planned.
The secretary of Fiom-Cgil of Caserta, Francesco Percuoco, expresses concern for the entrepreneurial instability of Softlab and underlines the urgency of finding concrete solutions that guarantee dignity to the workers and the territory involved. The situation remains uncertain and the struggle of the employees continues to obtain answers and justice.
