In a tragic road accident in Angola, Luca Falcon, 35 years old, originally from Verona and founder in 2020 of the non-profit association “Karma on the Road” together with his wife Giulia Trabucco, lost his life. The couple had started the organization with the aim of collecting donations of used or discarded prostheses, which were then reused to offer a better quality of life to amputees in third world countries, especially African children who were victims of war conflicts.
The details of the accident are still unclear, but it seems that Falcon, who was on a motorcycle trip through Africa, was involved in a collision with a truck, losing his life instantly. A death even more cruel if we consider that in 2016, in Verona, Falcon himself had been the victim of a serious motorcycle accident that caused him to lose a leg. However, from this personal tragedy, he had drawn the strength to found the association to help those who had suffered the same consequences.
His wife Giulia shared Falcon's courage, quoting her husband's words on Facebook: "I will reach South Africa, or I will die trying." Luca Falcon had already crossed several African countries during his motorcycle trip and was headed to Cape Town. The accident occurred on Sunday, the day after his 35th birthday, but the news was only confirmed last night. The family is in contact with the Italian Embassy in Angola for the repatriation of the body.
The President of the Chamber of Deputies, Lorenzo Fontana, expressed his condolences, defining Luca Falcon “a story of courage, of a strong spirit that overcame difficulties by putting itself at the service of others and doing good.” His words are addressed to his wife, to all his family members and to those who, over the years, have shared Luca Falcon's journey.
