Following the complaint by Europa Verde, the Municipality of Napoli imposed an administrative fine of over €12.000 on those responsible for the indiscriminate felling of 75 cherry trees on Viale dei Ciliegi, which occurred in early January. The investigations were initiated in response to a report from the environmental association, and the fines were applied in accordance with current regulations.
Investigations revealed that the trees had been felled without authorization, and that the affected area was subject to landscape restrictions, forming part of the perimeter of the Metropolitan Hills Park.
This gesture transformed a lush and colorful green area into a sad and desolate clearing.

The fine imposed serves as a warning to those who consider cutting down trees recklessly, damaging the environment and the health of citizens. They also praised the intervention of the Scampia Municipal Police Operations Unit for environmental protection.
"A deplorable gesture that damages the environment and, above all, damages the health of citizens. The Scampia Operations Unit of the Municipal Police did well to intervene and demonstrated concern for environmental protection."
