Following a complaint from Europa Verde, the City of Naples imposed an administrative fine of over €12.000 on those responsible for the indiscriminate felling of 75 cherry trees on Viale dei Ciliegi, which occurred in early January. Investigations were initiated in response to the environmental association's report, and the fines were applied in accordance with current regulations.

The investigations revealed that the trees had been cut down without any authorization, and that the area concerned was subject to landscape restrictions, forming part of the perimeter of the metropolitan park of the hills.

This gesture transformed a lush and colorful green area into a sad and desolate clearing.

Francesco Emilio Borrelli, member of parliament, and Rino Nasti, councilor of the fifth Municipality for Europa Verde, declared that Europa Verde will ensure that new trees are planted as soon as possible.

The fine imposed serves as a warning to those who think of cutting down trees without criteria, damaging the environment and the health of citizens. They also praised the intervention of the Scampia Operational Unit of the Municipal Police for the protection of the environment.
