This event was created on the occasion of the centenary of the birth of Franco Basaglia, the famous doctor and philosopher whose contribution revolutionized the panorama of psychiatry and care for the mentally ill. During this occasion, the book “Con tutto il mio tormento” by Luigi del Pezzo will be presented, an individual who, through his psychiatric experience and the power of writing, manages to transform his existential torment into artistic form. During the evening, several actors will read poems from the book, offering a profound emotional experience to the audience. In addition, the photographic exhibition by Luca Belfiore entitled “Beyond the thin net of [in]difference” will be inaugurated, a collection of shots captured over the years inside psychiatric institutions, offering a penetrating look into the reality of people suffering from mental disorders. The exhibition will be open to the public until May 19, 2024, offering everyone the opportunity to immerse themselves in this artistic and reflective world.
Additionally, during the event, there will be a musical performance by the talented singer-songwriter Miele, whose music is imbued with sensitivity and awareness regarding these issues. Her presence adds an emotional and engaging touch to this evening dedicated to reflection and the celebration of art as a tool for understanding and solidarity.

With the patronage of the Municipality of Torre del Greco and the participation of the Councilor for Social Policies, Dr. Mariateresa Sorrentino, among the illustrious guests of the evening.
The poet
Luigi del Pezzo, born in 1977 in Nocera, in the heart of Salerno, spent a happy childhood that, however, was interrupted by a deep sense of existential confusion. This disturbance led him to live on the streets, later to gain experience in a community for drug addicts and finally to find refuge in a residential facility dedicated to borderline patients.
Luigi's verses reveal a story of a happy childhood, but marked by the imaginary loss of his parents in a dramatic way, symbolizing a pain or a deep desire. Through a long journey of rebellion and solitude, he lived in the dark for many years, searching for an illusory sense of freedom. The pain of losing a paradise is kept in his memory along with nostalgia and loneliness. For a long time, Luigi avoided confronting his memories, rejecting their delicacy. However, when he decides to do so, he manages to observe himself and reconnect with that part of himself that he left behind. This process involves pain and deep self-analysis. Pain, regret and nostalgia are finally addressed, allowing memories to coexist harmoniously with the present. The past life becomes a support for a new phase, a rebirth towards an authentic and full life.
