A moment of fear occurred this morning in the Caserta area when a van got stuck between the barriers of a level crossing. The driver decided to park the vehicle parallel to the tracks, hoping to make room for an oncoming regional train. Unfortunately, the train ended up side-on colliding with the van, but fortunately, the accident caused no injuries, and the damage to both vehicles was minimal.

The incident occurred shortly before 8 a.m. between the Santa Maria Capua Vetere and Caserta stations, along the Cassino-Caserta railway line. Despite the lack of injuries, rail traffic slowed down, causing inconvenience to commuters.

At the moment, interventions are underway by technicians from Rete Ferroviaria Italiana (RFI) and the police to restore regular train circulation. However, passengers should expect delays, changes to routes and cancellations on High Speed, Intercity and Regional trains. To facilitate travel, a replacement bus service is active between the Caserta and Capua stations.
