An investigation has begun into the insults that appeared on the Prime Minister's election posters in Caserta Giorgia Meloni and the deputy Antonio Tajani.
Election posters containing insults aimed at Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani appeared this morning in Caserta. The words “Nazi liar” appeared on the Prime Minister’s posters, while those of Tajani read “Nazi collaborator”.
Although the gesture seems isolated, it has generated strong indignation among local politicians. The municipal police command, led by commander Piricelli, has started an investigation to identify those responsible for posting these defamatory posters in via Gallicola.
The president of the Province of Caserta, Giorgio Magliocca, strongly condemned the insults, declaring that such writings are offensive and do not represent the correct way to express political opinions. “This is not politics, this is not an election campaign,” Magliocca said, stressing that such acts only lead to the barbarization of democracy.
Marco Cerreto, a deputy from Caserta for Fratelli d'Italia, expressed himself along the same lines, calling these acts a "shameful, artfully staged hate campaign" by those who have no other arguments than to create "objective enemies". Cerreto called for firm condemnation by local institutions, starting with the mayor of Caserta, Carlo Marino.
The regional commissioner of Fratelli d'Italia in Campania, Antonio Iannone, stressed that the electoral posters with the effigy of Meloni were defaced with unacceptable accusations, and asked the police to ascertain the responsibilities of this vile act. Iannone urged local institutions to firmly condemn these behaviors, regardless of political affiliation.
Gianpiero Zinzi, a member of the Campania League, also expressed his condemnation for the insulting writings that appeared on the election posters in Caserta. Zinzi declared that such gestures are unacceptable and must be condemned like any form of violence, underlining that political debate must take place in a civil and respectful manner, without resorting to offensive or violent tones.
"Offenses and hostile attitudes towards Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni are no longer acceptable. This morning, a poster with harsh words to condemn was placed on a poster in Caserta with the image of the Prime Minister. I hope that the municipal administration will take action to eliminate any trace of this abuse". This was stated in a note by Fdi-Ecr MEP Chiara Maria Gemma
