Domenico Belforte, head of the clan of the same name active in the Caserta area, between Marcianise and Capodrise, will remain in hard prison according to what was decided by the Surveillance Court of Rome.
Although Belforte expressed his intention to collaborate and to have the body of a victim found, the Court rejected his appeal for the extension of the prison regime provided for by Article 41bis of the penitentiary system.
According to the judges of the Capitoline, the Belforte clan remains active and there is no evidence of a real detachment from criminal activities by Domenico Belforte. Despite previous claims of the clan being wiped out, recent law enforcement operations against the Belforte clan have led judges to uphold the decision to keep Belforte in the strict prison regime. Arrests, seizures and indictments related to the Belforte clan were cited as reasons for this decision.
Belforte was subjected to disciplinary measures in prison and attempted to defend himself by claiming he was claustrophobic, unable to spend long hours in a cell.
Despite his statements about his willingness to collaborate with justice and the weakening of the Belforte clan, the judges believe that Belforte continues to convey criminal messages outside and maintains a leading role in the clan. His permanence in the harsh prison regime has been confirmed.
