Rome – From the green revolution to the digital revolution, from construction to the Made in Italy supply chain: Italy's recovery also depends on the professionalism of industrial experts, multidisciplinary professionals who, thanks in part to their professional degrees, could play an increasingly central role in today's Italy.
“The category of industrial experts was born in 1929, and it was the profession that allowed us to rebuild post-war Italy,” Giovanni Esposito, president of the National Council of Industrial Experts, explained to the Dire agency. “The category was born with construction, but then with the post-war industry we supported industrial and construction reconstruction.” A phase similar to the one the country is going through today, grappling with a technological reconstruction in which the figure of the industrial expert will be fundamental, thanks to the 27 specializations that the Order embraces: from IT to electronics to design, there are over 38 thousand members, distributed in 97 territorial offices. “We always talk about professions that no longer exist, but the profession of industrial expert has some specializations that, even if they seem obsolete, have only changed”, specifies Esposito, who invites young people to “direct themselves towards these degree courses, because the future is in their hands: the basis and knowledge of the industrial expert can be applied to support the institutions for the progress of the country”.
Study paths that will be increasingly attractive thanks to the innovation of professional degrees that lawyer Carlo Pilia, professor of Civil Law at the University of Cagliari, is fighting for. “Professional degrees are three-year degrees built for a professional outlet with the direct involvement of professionals,” he explained to Dire. “The first year of this training activity is done in the classroom, the second year in laboratories and the third year a practical and evaluative internship is carried out together with professionals, companies and third sector entities.” Thus, the lawyer underlined, “students are able to gain experience and understand, directing their choices towards the sector of the profession that is most congenial to them. An absolute novelty for Italy but a very well-known model at an international level: the German, French and Spanish experiences say that the formula of professional degrees is one that sees training institutions and professional orders working together to train young people.”
An innovation that will also pass through gender equality: "We are truly committed to the social battle on gender equality - added Giovanni Esposito - We have a new regulation and we will reserve a seat for a female quota, and every day we give space to women in our category, who will be increasingly more".
The Order is also projecting itself towards young people thanks to events and initiatives: after the tour throughout Italy started in December 2021 with universities, local administrations and territorial Orders to talk about alternative energy, this month various events are already scheduled: on April 15, industrial experts will be among the protagonists on Made in Italy day; then in Turin as part of Energy Week.
