Francesco Iannone, a 52-year-old known drug trafficker from Arienzo, was acquitted by the preliminary hearing judge of the Santa Maria Capua Vetere Court on the grounds "because the fact did not exist."
The decision accepted the defense arguments of lawyers Vittorio Fucci and Daniela Martino, stating that there was insufficient evidence against Iannone for false declaration.
The case of Francesco Iannone, alias “Pieppetto”, has attracted great interest because of his alleged connections to the world of drug trafficking. The DDA considered him a key element in criminal activities related to international drug trafficking, involved in operations with the Piscitelli clan, known as “Cervinari”.
However, the defense managed to dismantle the charges and demonstrate their groundlessness before the judge in a complex judicial context such as that related to drug trafficking.
