“L'uomo che fotograficova le nuvole” (Coffee Records) is the title of the new single by the band La Scelta, on the radio and all digital platforms from today, Friday 19 April.
The song, which previews the new album and a concert-event planned for the fall, features a powerful electro-rock arrangement, rich in orchestral nuances, and a singer-songwriter text on a melodic line that immediately captures attention.
Feeling free to continue chasing your dreams, even in adulthood, means not giving in to the rules of the passing and crushing years; it means rediscovering enthusiasm and emotions lost in an increasingly individualistic and cynical society. In the era of the selfie, hedonism and self-celebration prevail. So photographing a sky with its strange clouds is like going back to being children, when lying on the grass with our gaze upwards we gave a name, a meaning, to those shapes that moved with the wind.
" The man who photographed clouds is someone who relentlessly spends his days pursuing his dream, allowing himself to be surprised by the unpredictability of the journey ," says La Scelta. " He's someone who doesn't give up in the face of defeat and who finds his escape by soaring high in his thoughts, far removed from the crushing reality of the earth, feeling free and airy like the clouds. It's the determination to conquer time."
The video was shot entirely in Rome. The protagonist is Angelo Notariale, a character already known to those who especially travel the streets of the Capital. His curious characteristic is that of being a tireless cyclist; and in fact Angelo, 50 years old, has been traveling hundreds of kilometers every day bare-chested (in any season and weather conditions) for more than 20 years aboard his "special" bikes. Bicycles customized by hand by himself, weighing 80 kg, similar to real "modern sculptures" made of wood, various objects, tree branches and LED lights. Accompanying him on his travels is Gipsy, his trusty dog who sits behind him in a wooden kennel built between the saddle and the rear wheel.
"Angelo is a crazy dreamer like me ," emphasizes Mattia, singer of La Scelta, " a stubborn guy who doesn't give up even in the face of the most arduous climbs; on the contrary, he challenges them. Every day he sets himself a tougher goal. I stopped him on the street because he'd piqued my curiosity, and I spent a long time talking with him, realizing we were very similar: he feels at ease on his bike; it's his free form of life in which he strives to improve every day. Just like making music is for me."
Biography
La Scelta is composed of Mattia Del Forno (vocals, piano, synth), Francesco Caprara (drums, percussion), Emiliano Mangia (guitars), Menotti Minervini (bass) and Andrea Di Cesare (electric violin). In February 2008 they placed second at the Sanremo Festival 2008 with the song “Il Nostro Tempo”, in the “Young People” category and won the AFI (Italian Phonographic Association) award. They thus released their first album entitled “Il Nostro Tempo”. The same year they took part in the May 1st Concert in Piazza San Giovanni in Rome. Children of the new rock scene that has invaded the capital for over a decade, the stage is their natural habitat, they have hundreds of concerts behind them, their music speaks different languages, draws from the rich Italian undergrowth, looks to Europe and goes to snoop around the Mediterranean. I am on the terrain of multicultural sound but with firm roots in the Italian textual tradition. Between 2011 and 2012 they recorded some songs in El Paso (Texas) with Fabrizio Simoncioni (internationally renowned sound engineer, multiple Grammy Award nominee). Subsequently, a very long tour begins which sees La Scelta and Ron together on stage, over 100 concerts in Italy and abroad. In the fall of 2015 Ron entrusted Mattia with the production of his new album, “La Forza Di Dire Sì”, containing 24 duets with great Italian artists. The album was released in March 2016 and the proceeds were donated to AISLA. The band participated, together with 22 other artists, in the music video for the single “Una Città Per Cantare 2016′′ which reached number one on the iTunes charts and became one of the most played songs on the radio for several weeks. In April 2016, the “La Forza Di Dire Si Tour” started and during the summer of the same year the single-duet “Aquilone” was released on radio rotation. The song ranks in the top 10 most played independent songs. In December 2016 the band's single "Tamburo" was released on the radio. La Scelta is the author of the song “L'ottava meraviglie”, presented by Ron at the 67th Sanremo Festival. In October 2017 the band's second album entitled "Colore Alieno" (Coffee Records/Artist First) was released and the two singles "Transoceanica" and "Argilla" were awarded at the "Roma videoclip Festival". 2018 opens with the radio launch of the second single, “Alieno”, whose video is released as a preview on the Tgcom24 website and from June 15th the video clip of “Argilla” is available, made with the participation of the actors Mirko Frezza and Milena Mancini. The video wins the “Revelation of the Year” award at the Roma Videoclip Festival 2018 in the “Big” section. In November 2019, the new single “Ho sguardo il cielo” was released, which marks, with the combination of music and cinema, the collaboration with the actor Mirko Frezza who directed the video clip with an exceptional cast including Marco Giallini, Claudia Gerini, Francesco Montanari and other big names. In June 2020, the song “Ballad 2020” anticipates the single “Ultimo Tango”, released in October. The band subsequently released “Agosto a casa”, the video for which was directed by actor Marcello Fonte, and the single “La via della seta”. From March 2022, two more singles “Ritmo del mondo” and “Treno del futuro” will be available on all digital platforms. In January 2024 the single L'Eroe is in radio rotation. The song is the soundtrack to the film GOLIA, available on the Prime Video and Chili platforms.
