Naples, on a motorbike without a helmet attacks the police: the images go viral online

An episode of unprecedented violence occurred in Monteoliveto, where a man riding a scooter without a helmet with his wife and child verbally and physically attacked the Municipal Police officers who had stopped him for a routine check. Only thanks to the intervention of reinforcements was the man apprehended.

The images ended up online and went viral after being shared on his social media channels by Green Party MP Francesco Emilio Borrelli.

"My total solidarity with the municipal police officers attacked in Monteoliveto.", declared Francesco Emilio Borrelli. "This is yet another case that demonstrates once again the rampant violence engulfing our city, violence that is increasingly directed against law enforcement. These people must face severe penalties; no more impunity."

Borrelli emphasizes the seriousness of the phenomenon and the need for decisive action by the authorities: We can no longer tolerate this climate of tension and violence. Anyone who attacks a police officer must be severely punished. We need to send a strong signal to those who think they can do whatever they want without respecting the rules.

An appeal for citizens' collaboration

The MP also calls on citizens to collaborate with law enforcement to report incidents of violence and to help create a climate of greater safety: "Only with everyone's collaboration can we defeat violence and build a more livable city for all."
