A demonstration took place this morning in front of the headquarters of the Campania region to Saint Lucia.
About fifty parents, together with the Superhero Association, the Piccolo Mondo di Marta and the Comitato Genitori Bimbi Sevi e Sevissimi, protested against the law that requires the reporting of vouchers for support to caregivers.
Parents expressed their dissent by shouting “No to reporting” and “We are caregivers, not accountants.” Carmela Auriemma, a member of parliament for the Five Star Movement, argued that a parent’s love cannot be measured and reported in financial terms.
Next to her was Councilor Patrizia Nola, who sided with caregiver parents against a law that would transform them into accountants instead of allowing them to simply be parents.
Auriemma stressed the importance of supporting mothers and fathers who take care of their special children despite the many difficulties. He also highlighted the need to recognize the figure of the Caregiver at a national level, hoping that Parliament can approve as soon as possible the bill presented by President Giuseppe Conte and his colleague Gilda Sportiello.
