Former Speaker of the Chamber Gianfranco Fini was sentenced to two years and eight months by the Rome court.
The judges of the fourth criminal section also sentenced his partner Elisabetta Tulliani to 5 years, his brother Giancarlo Tulliani to 6 years and his father Sergio Tulliani to 5 years, all accused of money laundering. The former leader of Alleanza Nazionale was present in the courtroom when the verdict was read.
At the hearing on March 18, the prosecutors had asked for more severe sentences: 8 years for Fini, 9 years for Elisabetta Tulliani, 10 years for Giancarlo Tulliani and 5 years for Sergio Tulliani.
The case revolves around the sale of the house in Monte Carlo, left as an inheritance to Alleanza Nazionale by Countess Annamaria Colleoni. According to the prosecution, the property was purchased by Giancarlo Tulliani through an offshore company in 2008 for just over 300 thousand euros. The same house was then sold in 2015 for 1 million and 360 thousand dollars, generating a substantial profit.
